Bedfordshire Engagement Session
Fun with Emma & Alex in Bedford
I love visiting new locations for photo shoots so doing Emma & Alex’s Bedfordshire engagement session at the boating lake in Bedford was a great opportunity to explore.
Pretty soon after Emma & Alex had booked me for their wedding day we were discussing locations for their engagement session. We discussed a few ideas and locations until they decided on a beautiful park not far from where they lived. Local parks & woods are always a great options, it can add a more personal touch to your images and give you a special place near by you can enjoy together.
Emma & Alex chose the beautiful boating lake in Bedford that is surrounded by lots of greenery, pathways and overhanging trees, perfect for an engagement session. We started with some really simple shots on the butterfly bridge, I mean how could I not its such an amazing structure and gives the photos such a great contrast to the more natural backdrops that are usually available.
We then headed off for a walk around the lake following the paths away from the crowds so Emma & Alex could have some fun and relax. We stopped whenever something caught our eye from a beautiful view over the lake to a more urban setting under the bypass for a few lifts and spins (my fav!)
The main reason Emma & Alex choose this location was so they could hire a boat and get some photos on the water. Obviously I was super excited about the idea and absolutely encouraged it 100%!
We left the boat hire until last, just in case there were any accidents and someone ended up soaking wet. As Emma & Alex set off for a row around the lake I captured the fun and excitement that they shared as they got in the boat, followed shortly after with me running around the lake to meet them half way for some shots across the water.
It was a stunning setting and a really fun, unique idea for their engagement session.
I would encourage all couples to think about the location for your engagement session, is there somewhere special you would like to go or something crazy you would like to do. It can be as adventurous or as laid back as you like, from a lazy picnic in the park to a horse trek in the mountains (not sure where but that’s up to you).
If you would like an engagement session and have some great ideas you would like to share then please get in touch.
Until the next adventure x
