Engagement session locations

My favourite spots in Hertfordshire & Buckinghamshire

I do lots of engagement sessions every year and more often than not couples will ask for location recommendations for their session, so I wanted to share some of my favourite engagement session locations with you here to help you decide.

My chosen engagement session locations stretch across Hertfordshire & Buckinghamshire so hopefully one of these places will be well located for you.

Let start with my absolute favourit location, which happens to be in Buckinghamshire and is called…

Stockgrove Country Park

This location has so much going for it, from a lake in the middle of the woods, open mossy hills and the most beautiful woodland. Every session I have done here has been stunning, at all times of the year and all times of the day. In Summer the woods create perfect dappled light and in winter the light sets so softly over the water. It’s just perfect.

Stockgrove country park reminds me of a Canadian wood, it really does feel like a your somewhere else, and because of the size of the woodland it;s always easy to find a quiet spot and be all on your own.

A huge plus point for me is how much dogs seem to love this place, so definitely one for couples who want to bring their dog along to the session.

There are some plus points to choosing one of my recommended engagement session locations. Firstly my knowledge of the area can save time and lots of walking to find the best photo spots. Knowing the area inside out makes it easy to find those quiet places on a busy weekend and means I can take couples directly to the most photogenic spots.

Next on my list of recommended locations is in Hertfordshire and a popular Natioanl Trust site…

Ashridge Estate

This beautiful location is just around the corner from me and another huge woodland area to explore. Because I shoot here so often I like to change up where I take couples & families within the woods regularly. There are plenty of different entrances around the land, which join on to some other beautiful parts of the Chiltern hills such as Ivinghoe Beacon and the gorgeous village of Aldbury.

Ashridge offers a beautiful English woodland backdrop with lots of fallen trees to walk on and fences to climb on. There are stunning tree lined paths, open commons, fallen trees and hidden viewing spots to enjoy stunning views of the Chiltern hills. I like to get as much variety from a location as possible into each session so I always go exploring with each couple who have a session here.

Tring Park

Another Hertfordshire location that seems to be a bit of a hidden gem. Even on the hottest summers day this place is still quiet, which always amazes me because it is soooo beautiful here. Tring park is more of an open location, filled with hills and pathways, but there is also the most perfect tree lined paths into the woods towards the back of the land.

If you choose this location prepare for a bit of walking but don’t worry we can take it nice a slowly, enjoying a chat and a wonder at our own pace. Once in the woods there are some hidden monuments tucked away in the trees that can be a fun addition the the session. This then open out to the most incredible view over the county that are a must see!

Cassiobury Park

This well known park in Hertfordshire is great for couples based in or around London and offers all kinds of options for a session. There are lovely open spaces located next to water, which means there are some great canal paths and little bridges to take advantage of. It can get busy here but the great thing about Cassiobury park is it’s size, it’s connected to a huge woodland called Whippendell woods that is perfect for loosing the crowds on a busy weekend.

These are the locations I would recommend to couples who don’t have anywhere particular in mind for their engagement session but they are certainly not the only options. As much as I love working at these locations I also love explore new locations especially if that location is unique or special the the couple so don’t feel restricted by this list or the type of locations they are.

I always love a London based engagement session, whether it be a urban hot spot or one of many beautiful green spaces in the capital. You may want to have a session around the village you grew up in or even stay at home for a super chilled shoot.

You could even go further afield and pick a location on the coast! I know I’d love a day at the beach for some epic couple shots!

Whatever your ideas may be get in touch and lets discuss them in full to make the most of your session
